Job description
We are seeking a creative and skilled Danish sculptor to produce original three-dimensional artworks and commissions that reflect high craftsmanship and conceptual rigour. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with a variety of materials and techniques, collaborate with clients and colleagues, and contribute to exhibitions and public art projects. This role is open to practitioners at different stages of their career who demonstrate a strong portfolio, professional approach and commitment to safe studio practice.
Responsibilities
Design, develop and fabricate sculptures and three-dimensional works using materials such as stone, metal, wood, clay, and mixed media.
Interpret briefs and commission specifications, producing concept sketches, maquettes and detailed plans for approval.
Operate hand and power tools, casting, welding and finishing techniques with attention to quality and durability.
Prepare works for transport, installation and display, including collaboration with installers and venues for public and private projects.
Maintain accurate records of projects, materials and time, and provide progress updates to clients and the team.
Ensure safe working practices in the studio, including correct use of PPE, safe handling of materials and compliance with health and safety procedures.
Participate in exhibitions, open studios, commission meetings and community or educational outreach as required.
Contribute to a collaborative studio environment by sharing skills, supporting colleagues and helping maintain shared facilities.
Requirements
Proven experience as a sculptor or three-dimensional artist with a portfolio demonstrating technical skill and creative breadth.
Skilled in working with multiple materials and techniques; experience of casting, fabrication or metalwork is desirable.
Good visual and spatial awareness, attention to detail and an ability to solve practical challenges during fabrication and installation.
Self-motivated, reliable and able to manage multiple projects to deadlines with strong organisational skills.
Good communication skills for liaising with clients, galleries, collaborators and suppliers.
Willingness to travel locally for site visits, installations and client meetings; right to work in the UK.
Awareness of health and safety practices relevant to studio work; formal training or certifications are an advantage.
